Art on a Cart started at Nautilus by Brooke Raymond in the 2012-13 school year. Andrea Schweikl took over the program for her in 2013. Since then, "Miss Andrea" (as the students call her) has further developed and maintained this dynamic art / design program for ages 5-15. Supported by the staff, teachers and parents, she brings a cart full of art supplies to teach every class (Kindergarten through 8th grade) one time a month for their art/design lesson. The program includes line study, color theory, painting, drawing, sculpting, ceramics, basic and intermediate art theories and techniques, cultural art, study of artists in the past as well as currently living, history of design and art, and more. Help with different areas of Art on a Cart is always appreciated. We do need a few more volunteers for some classrooms so please contact Andrea Schweikl to see where help is needed and if you can fill in anywhere (253.249.8962 or [email protected]). We have the entire year of art sessions scheduled, however the schedule is subject to change. I also have "behind the scene's" tasks if you would like to help outside of the classroom. You may also sign up to help by clicking the button below. The only requirement is a background check cleared through the Nautilus office.
